 A UGC scholarship programme called the Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Scholarship was established with the goal of empowering girls in our nation through education.

Each year, a different date is chosen for the scholarship announcement for single girls. The application season for scholarships, however, typically opens in July of each year. 

The last week of either January or October is the deadline for this scholarship. The deadline to apply for this scholarship for the academic year 2022–2023 was October 31, 2022.

Award for the Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girls

This single girl child scholarship, which was created by the UGC with the intention of encouraging and promoting higher education among girls and their parents/guardians, offers 3,000 girls from all across the country financial assistance each year on a monthly basis for a period of two years.

 The recipient's bank account receives the scholarship money directly. Additionally, students must present a "Continuation Certificate" in the required format every three months.

The applicants must be female students enrolled in institutions recognised by the UGC, the State or Central Government, or be institutions of national significance in order to be eligible for this UGC award. Candidates must be accepted into a designated university or postgraduate college's standard, first-year master's degree programme.

At the time of acceptance to the PG programme, the candidates must be older than 30.

Candidates accepted into a postgraduate programme via distant education are ineligible for this award.

Students are also not need to meet any income requirements to be eligible for this award.

How to Apply for the Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girls

Through the official National Scholarship Portal website, candidates can apply for this UGC scholarship. Candidates who are applying to the NSP for the first time must sign up as new users.
To register, complete the form to the best of your ability and click "Register." On the registered cellphone number, an application ID and password for students are generated.

The newly created ID and password must be used by the female candidates to sign in to NSP. To reset their password, which is a required step, candidates must get an OTP on their registered mobile number.

After changing their passwords, applicants are taken to the applicant's dashboard page, where they must click "Application form" to begin the application process.

The applicants must upload all of the necessary proofs of identity and academic qualifications.

The application form must now be saved as a draught so that the applicant may review every aspect to ensure it is accurate.

The candidate must then complete and submit the scholarship application form by clicking the 'Submit' button.

Terms and Conditions for the Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girls

If candidates want to take advantage of this UGC scholarship, they must adhere to a few rules and regulations. Below are certain guidelines for this scholarship for women that are highlighted.

The only candidates who qualify for this UGC scholarship are those who are enrolled in a PG course in their first year.

The candidates are not eligible for any additional grants to cover things like hostel fees, medical expenses, etc.

The grantees of this scholarship for a single girl child are not required to pay any tuition at the host institutions.

After receiving the scholarship money for a full year, the candidates must submit their Progress Report in the required format to the designated bank (Canara Bank), on the basis of which the fund for the following academic year is released to the recipients. 

The department head, the university's registrar, the head of the institution, or the college's principal must all properly sign this report.

Candidates should be aware that if they stop their studies without giving UGC advance notice, they must reimburse the entire fee by e-mode (RTGS/NEFT) and deposit it into the UGC account.

The recipients of this scholarship are not prohibited from receiving any additional awards.

If the candidates don't meet the requirements, the scholarship engage in any sort of misbehavior, give false information throughout any step of the application process, or get a first-year score of less than 55% (or 50% in the case of recipients who are physically challenged).
